PKUEF (USA) China Earthquake Relief Fund Month Report

I. Program Initiation
PKUEF (USA) initiated a special fund raising program for China Earthquake Relief with 16 PKU alumni associations in the US immediately after the deadly earthquake in southwest China’s Sichuan province. Donations and support are called for rebuilding primary and middle schools in the disaster areas.
II. Donation Amount
Till June 17, 2008, PKUEF (USA) has received donations of $333,887.99 for the China Earthquake Relief Fund.
III. Donation Gifts
Till June 17, 2008, PKUEF(USA) has received 537 gifts for the China Earthquake Relief Program.

IV. Program Updates
1.May 15, 19, 2008
PKUEF(USA), PKUEF(Beijing), PKU Alumni Association discussed with the related offices and departments at Peking University proposing to raise fund for rebuilding primary and middle schools in the disaster area of Wolong.
2.May 23, 30, 2008
Through communication with local government in Wolong, Peking University confirmed to support rebuilding the primary and middle schools in the Wolong Area.
3.May 19, June 6-12, 2008
Professors and experts from Peking University visited the Wolong Area to collect information and help plan the rebuilding projects.
4.June 4, 17, 2008
Peking University convened two conferences on support to rebuilding after Wenchuan earthquake.
5.Till June 15, 2008
The locations for rebuilding the two schools have been initially selected and the final locations are yet to be approved by the local government together with their overall rebuilding plan. The rebuilding plan and budget is under research.
V. We reaffirm
All 100% of the donation will be used for the program and no management fees will be charged. All the program information will be open, including the planning, the budget of rebuilding, the balance of the fund raised and spent. PKUEF (USA) will join hand with PKUEF (Beijing) and PKUAA and all possible resources at PKU to make it a success. We welcome any inquiry and suggestions from alumni and donors.
