Vice President Hai Wen Meets Beida Alumni in North California and Addressed at Weiming Forum
  










    With the invitation of Peking University Alumni Association - North California and Peking University Education Foundation (USA), Prof. Hai Wen, Vice President of PKU, attended a series of alumni activities during his visit in San Francisco from January 2 to January 7. Prof. Hai introduced China's economic situation and discussed with local alumni leaders and representatives through the meetings.
    
    On the evening of January 6, Prof. Hai Wen addressed at "Weiming Forum", attracting more than 400 audiences. He shared his views about the financial storm that is sweeping across the globe and the opportunities and challenges China¨s economy meets. Optimistic about the financial storm, Hai Wen emphasized the current situations and macro-policy of China¨s economy and also indicated his economic prospect about 2009 and policy proposals for the government. Weiming Forum was initiated in 2006 by PKUAA- North California and PKUEF (USA) to promote Sino-US cultural exchange and communication with alumni and the local Chinese community. As the beginning of some major events in 2009, Weiming Forum was widely reported by local media and received strong supports from the Chinese organizations in the Bay Area.
    
    Before the speech, Prof. Hai Wen also met with some local alumni leaders and representatives and discussed about the recent development of Beida and the domestic economic situation as well as the work of alumni association and Education Foundation. On the night of January 5, a local Chinese TV Station KTSF 26 invited Hai Wen to its well-known talk show "Talk Tonight" to give opinions on the current financial storm and China's economy.
